Fuggles Hop Pellets

Price: €5,90

Fuggles hop pellets are English brewing history in pellet form — the definitive traditional English aroma hop, propagated by Richard Fuggle in Kent in 1875 and, for the century that followed, the backbone of British ale brewing itself. At its peak, Fuggles accounted for the overwhelming majority of England’s entire hop acreage, and its earthy, softly bitter signature is quite simply what classic English beer tastes like. For brewers of authentic bitters, milds, porters, and stouts, there is no substitute — Fuggles is the reference the styles were written around.

What defines Fuggles is restraint and depth rather than intensity. The profile is distinctly earthy and woody, layered with soft herbal and grassy notes, gentle floral tones, and a whisper of fruit — delicate, rounded, and built to complement English malt and yeast character rather than compete with it. Its low alpha acid content delivers a smooth, refined bitterness that never turns harsh, making Fuggles equally at home as a mild bittering charge in a session ale and as a late aroma addition where its classic character shines. It is also half of English brewing’s most famous partnership: Fuggles for body and earthiness, East Kent Goldings for finesse and floral lift — the pairing behind countless legendary bitters.

Beyond beer, Fuggles has a long tradition in cider making and English-style barleywines, and its lineage runs through half the brewing world: Willamette, Styrian Goldings, and Cascade all carry Fuggles parentage. A hop inventory without Fuggles is missing the root of the family tree.
