Yakima Chief Sabro Cryo Hop Pellets - Concentrated Coconut & Tropical Aroma Hops
Sabro® Cryo hop pellets deliver the most distinctive aroma profile in American craft brewing at maximum concentration — the unmistakable coconut, tangerine, and tropical cream character of Sabro®, processed by Yakima Chief Hops using their proprietary cryogenic technology into pure, concentrated lupulin with roughly double the potency of standard T90 pellets. For brewers who want Sabro®’s signature character to genuinely dominate a beer, this is the format that makes it happen.
What makes Sabro® unlike any other hop on the market is its wild heritage. Bred by the Hop Breeding Company from a female neomexicanus hop — a wild American subspecies native to the mountains of the Southwest — Sabro® carries flavour compounds that simply don’t exist in conventional European-descended varieties: distinct creamy coconut, bright tangerine citrus, ripe stone fruit and tropical notes, layered over a subtle backbone of cedar and fresh mint. In Cryo form, that already-bold profile is amplified to its fullest expression, with the vegetal plant matter left behind entirely — meaning you load the fermenter with pure aromatic lupulin instead of leaf material, and get a cleaner, smoother finished beer with dramatically less hop burn, less trub loss, and more beer out of the fermenter.
Cryo pellets are at their best in the dry hop, where Sabro® Cryo produces the saturated coconut-tropical intensity that defines modern dessert-leaning hazy IPAs — and in the whirlpool, where it delivers a concentrated burst of character that carries powerfully into the glass. With an elevated alpha acid content, it’s also a potent bittering option, though few brewers buy Sabro® Cryo for bitterness.
Cryo hop pellets Produced by cryogenically separating the lupulin glands from the hop cone at harvest. The result is a highly concentrated pellet with approximately twice the alpha acids and essential oils of standard T90 pellets. Use at roughly half the rate of T90 for equivalent bitterness, or at similar rates for dramatically increased aroma intensity.
