Bestmalz BEST Caramel Amber Malt 1kg 61–80 EBC — Rich Date & Biscuit Caramel Malt for Amber & Dark Beers
Bestmalz BEST Caramel® Amber is a premium German caramel malt with a bold, characterful flavour profile that steps confidently beyond the lighter sweetness of standard caramel malts into genuinely complex, aroma-intensive territory. Produced by Bestmalz in full compliance with the German Purity Law and kilned to 61–80 EBC, BEST Caramel® Amber is purpose-built for strong, full-bodied, and aroma-driven beer styles where a substantial malt presence is not just desirable but essential to the character of the finished beer.
What defines BEST Caramel® Amber and sets it apart from lighter caramel malts in the Bestmalz range is its distinctive combination of rich date sweetness and deep biscuit character — flavour compounds that develop during the caramelisation process at this elevated colour range and that contribute a complexity and depth that a standard crystal malt at lower EBC simply cannot replicate. The date and cookie notes integrate beautifully into the malt backbone of Märzen, Bock, and amber ale styles — adding aromatic intensity, mouthfeel richness, and a persistent flavour presence that carries through attenuation and into the finished glass. Its high extract yield of minimum 75% on dry substance ensures that this flavour contribution comes with meaningful fermentable and non-fermentable sugar content, building body and mouthfeel alongside colour and aroma.
At 61–80 EBC, BEST Caramel® Amber contributes a deep amber to copper colour that defines the visual identity of the styles it is built for — and at up to 50% of the grain bill, it is versatile enough to be the dominant specialty malt in a characterful single-malt-forward build or a powerful flavour anchor in a more complex grain bill alongside Munich, Pilsner, or roasted specialty malts.
Crushed or uncrushed malt Available crushed or uncrushed. Crushed malt should be used within 2–3 weeks for optimal freshness. Uncrushed malt retains full freshness for significantly longer when stored in a cool, dry environment.
