The wireless upgrade solves the standard Pill's one genuine annoyance. Out of the box, a Pill charges through the USB-C port on its circuit board — which means unscrewing the housing for every single charge, and every disassembly risks shifting the internals enough to demand recalibration. This kit ends that ritual with one five-minute installation: open the Pill once, plug the charging coil onto the internal USB-C port, stick on the self-adhesive weight pads to keep the float balance true, and close the housing — for good. From that day on, the Pill charges by simply resting on the included dock: the double o-ring seal stays undisturbed, and the calibration you set on day one is the calibration you brew with in year three. Not that charging is a frequent event anyway — the Li-Ion 18650 runs roughly 1.5 years per charge at the default 60-minute telemetry interval, 5 months at 15-minute logging, and 2+ years in Bluetooth mode.

The measurement credentials are serious: ±0.002 SG accuracy, temperature from -20 to 60°C at ±0.2°C, and a 0–5 bar pressure rating — so it floats just as happily inside a sealed pressure fermenter as an open bucket, tracking a spunded fermentation from behind closed doors. The Pill connects over 2.4GHz WiFi to the free RAPT Portal (unlimited devices, full logging history, email alerts, remote access from anywhere) — or, better, over Bluetooth to a RAPT Fermentation Chamber or RAPT Temperature Controller, where it becomes the brain of the operation: the Pill reads core wort temperature and gravity, and the chamber controls the fermentation from actual gravity — automatic diacetyl rests and cold crashes triggered by the beer itself, not the calendar. The housing is BPA- and phthalate-free food-grade Nylon 12 and Polyketone, splits conveniently at the midline, and is deliberately sized (37mm × 125mm) so krausen, hops, and CO₂ bubbles disturb readings far less than smaller floating hydrometers.

Practical notes: install the coil and weight pads before first use, then charge for 24 hours to calibrate the battery. Wait ~30 minutes after any charge before trusting temperature readings, and if solids cling to the housing mid-fermentation, a gentle shake of the fermenter washes them off.
