Anton Paar EasyDens Digital Density Meter - Smart Hydrometer for Beer, Wine & Spirits

Price: €399,90

The Anton Paar EasyDens is the digital replacement for the glass hydrometer — a compact density meter built on the same oscillating U-tube principle as Anton Paar’s DMA 5000 M, the most accurate density meter in the world, scaled down to brewery-bench size and price. Where a hydrometer demands 150–250ml of beer per reading, a tall trial jar, a temperature correction table, and squinting at a meniscus, the EasyDens takes 2ml through the supplied syringe and returns a temperature-compensated, lab-grade reading in seconds on your phone: density to ±0.001 g/cm³, specific gravity to ±0.001, extract to ±0.3°Plato.

The workflow is disarmingly simple. Draw a small degassed sample into the syringe, inject it into the port on top, and the Brew Meister app (iOS, Android, web — with Apple Watch support) displays the result instantly: SG or °Plato at every stage from mash-complete and pre-boil through original gravity, fermentation tracking, and final gravity, with estimated ABV calculated automatically from your OG and FG. Because the EasyDens measures density directly, it reads fermenting and finished beer exactly as a hydrometer does — no alcohol-correction formulas, ever, which is precisely where refractometers fall down. Every measurement logs to your batch in the app, the fermentation curve draws itself over time, and Meister Cloud syncs it all across devices. Over-the-air updates keep adding units and features — the app already covers 60+ units spanning beer (SG, °Plato), wine and sake (°Brix, KMW, Oechsle, Baumé, Babo, SMV), spirits (% v/v, % w/w, Proof — for low-extract distillates like gin and vodka), and even dairy.

For homebrewers, the arithmetic against the glass hydrometer is brutal: tracking a fermentation daily for two weeks costs litres of beer in trial-jar samples — with the EasyDens it costs a few syringes. Calibration is a one-click check in the app against distilled water, the glass measuring cell rinses clean in seconds, and there’s nothing to break, float, or read wrong. Pair it with the Anton Paar SmartRef digital refractometer and the combination unlocks direct alcohol measurement — the two instruments together determine ABV from density plus refractive index.

Supplied with filling syringe and waste tube. Sample must be degassed before measurement — shake carbonated samples in a jar for a couple of minutes first.

Key Features

Oscillating U-tube technology — the same principle as Anton Paar’s flagship lab density meters

Lab-grade accuracy: ±0.001 g/cm³ density, ±0.001 SG, ±0.3°Plato — with automatic temperature compensation

Just 2ml per sample — track a whole fermentation for a few syringes of beer, not litres

Reads fermenting and finished beer directly — no alcohol-correction formulas, unlike a refractometer

Brew Meister app (iOS/Android/web, Apple Watch) — batch logging, fermentation curves, est. ABV from OG & FG, Meister Cloud sync, OTA updates

60+ units across beer, wine, sake, spirits, and dairy applications

One-click calibration check against distilled water; rinses clean in seconds

Pairs with the Anton Paar SmartRef for direct alcohol measurement

Usage

Best suited for: Original and final gravity measurement, daily fermentation tracking, mash and pre-boil gravity checks, wine and cider must monitoring, ABV measurement of low-extract spirits

Compatible with: Brew Meister app (iOS, Android, web), Meister Cloud, Anton Paar SmartRef (alcohol-measurement combination), the supplied syringe filling system

Note: Samples must be degassed (and ideally filtered) before measurement — shake carbonated beer in a loosely lidded jar for a couple of minutes. Spirits ABV measurement applies to binary water-alcohol solutions with low extract (gin, vodka, neutral spirit); for liqueurs and sugar-containing spirits, combine with the SmartRef.
