Pairs well with
Weyermann Carafa Special Malt Type 3 1300-1500 EBC is the deepest colour Weyermann makes, de-husked for a remarkably smooth roast — black colour, soft touch. Malted in Bamberg by Weyermann, the benchmark German maltster, and the right choice for stout, Schwarzbier and colour adjustment in any dark beer.
Use it at 1-5% of the grain bill. It is pre-converted in the kilning, so all-grain brewers mash it with the base malt and extract brewers simply steep it in a grain bag. Order it whole, or choose Crushed and we mill it fresh at 1 mm right before shipping.
De-husked (Special): the husk is removed before roasting, so the roast stays smooth with no astringency.
